The living room

A single open room the width of the house, glazed floor to ceiling on the sea side, with a wood burner against a board-formed concrete wall at the sheltered end. The sliders stack right back, so on a still morning the room and the deck are one space.

The kitchen

Built to actually cook in, not to photograph. Full-size oven, induction hob, dishwasher, and a board-formed concrete island you can get four people around while somebody else is still in the water.

The bedrooms

Three bedrooms, all on the one level. The main opens onto its own section of deck through a full-height slider, so you can hear the water from the bed. The twin looks inland into the pōhutukawa and the bush hill.

The deck and pool

The deck runs the full sea face, and the pool sits at its edge so the water lines up with the bay behind it. Out of the wind at the far end there is an outdoor shower off the cedar wall, which is where everyone ends up after the beach.
